Hutt City’s Project Silver Lining
It may be under the radar for many but almost a third of Hutt City’s waste comes from local businesses. You might be a contributor.
Project Silver Lining is an initiative to address this by reducing the volume of waste heading to landfill and improving the efficiency of local organisations.
Hutt City, in partnership with WelTec Centre for Smart Product have partnered to help local organisations find solutions that will redesign products so that their waste can be significantly reduced or eliminated, or identify products into which particular waste streams can be incorporated.
Projects currently underway include investigation projects to reduce waste from businesses, such as options for setting up a food composting service, and work with Earthlink to assist them with upcycling of pre-loved clothing to make children’s clothes.
If your business is interested in being part of the project, please in touch with Hutt City Council or me at WelTec Centre for Smart Product.
